Bus Driver Requirements: Minium 18 years of age, Two years driving experience with a valid Drivers License, Good driving record and No Felony record
Application Process: Submit a completed Employment application to AVSTA along with an H-6 report (10 year driving record report). This can be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles for a fee. What to Expect: During Orientation an entry level test on the California Class C handbook will be given. Please obtain a copy of the California Class C Handbook from the Department of Mortor Vehicles, at no charge you. It is very important that you study before coming to Orientation. You will need to bring a pencil and your Drivers License.
Successful applicants will begin a 2 week classroom training at no cost. This course is designed to provide the applicant with a Commercial Drivers License Class B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement, a Special Certificate (DL-45 certificate which allows one to drive a school bus), a DL-51 Medical Card and First Aide card. The Commercial Hand book is used in this class, the handbook can be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles at no charge.
Behind the wheel classes will be scheduled on an individual basis. We train on Type I and Type II Buses. Upon completion you will have the skills and will have met the requirements for school bus driving.
